Narrative
SIKESTON, MO – A 54-year-old cyclist went to the hospital last Wednesday after crashing into a vehicle along the highway in Sikeston.
The incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. along the South Kingshighway near East Trotter Street. This is just southeast of American Legion Park.
Police say that the southbound cyclist attempted to pass a Sikeston Department of Safety patrol SUV. The bike and the SUV collided.
Medics airlifted the cyclist to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the SUV did not sustain injuries, and no charges have been filed at this time.
A full investigation is underway.
