SALINE COUNTY, MO – A 19-year-old man operating a Ford F-250 pickup truck lost his life when he crashed into a guardrail and then was struck by a semi-truck Sunday. This collision was reported around 6:45 p.m. on I-70 West. Missouri Highway Patrol told KCTV that the pickup truck driver — Michael Stephenson, 19, of Platte City — did not wear a seatbelt, leading him to be thrown from his vehicle. A short time later, Stephenson succumbed to deadly injuries. His time of death was reported at 7:30 p.m. The semi-truck driver, a 22-year-old adult from Arizona, walked away from the collision unscathed. No pending charges were revealed.
