Narrative

KANSAS CITY, MO – A woman riding a motorized scooter sustained fatal injuries Monday in a collision with a motorcycle in the Winnwood area of  Kansas City.

The accident happened sometime before 11 p.m. on Northeast 45th Terrace near North Lister Avenue, which is northeast of Winnwood park.

Police say that the driver of an eastbound Harley Davidson was thrown from his bike while attempting to avoid a collision with the victim. Following the ejection, the motorcycle continued travelling and struck the woman on the scooter.

Medics transported the scooter operator, identified as 67-year-old Cynthia Nigro, to the hospital, where she died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The motorcyclist did not require hospitalization.

A full investigation is underway.
