Narrative
KEARNEY, MO – Two adults died, and two minors were injured in a multi-vehicle accident involving a school bus in north-central Clay County earlier this month.
The accident occurred on Wednesday, July 3rd, around 3:08 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 92 and Highway A in Kearney.
Police say that a westbound vehicle entered the eastbound lanes of Highway 92 when the car ahead of it slowed suddenly to make a turn. The westbound vehicle collided head-on with a school bus carrying 17 students and four adults. The wrong-way vehicle then went on to re-enter the westbound lanes and hit another vehicle.
The driver and passenger in the wrong-way vehicle died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identities to the public.
Medics took two students from the bus to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
